Members Warmothrules
I bought a parametric EQ a while back which I guess is balanced. Can I use it with my guitar amps effects loop? Doesn't seem to work. Could I use different cables?
Members DeadNight Warrior
Doesn't work at all, or it sounds rubbish? What kind of amp, what eq? It shouldn't really be a problem as far as i can tell. Plenty of people use rack eqs and fx units with their amps, and a lot of that kind of stuff is balanced. Members guitarbilly74
the issue here is not unbalanced/balanced. The issue is that your effects loop is putting out an instrument level signal (-10dB) and your rack is probably designed to work with a line level signal (+4dB).Some amps have a -10/+4 level switch for their loops. If yours doesn't you are SOL.
Members WRGKMC
May need an in line attenuator to get the levels correct. You need to know what the matching attenuation should be though. Whirwind makes some that are set and some switchable. You could also use Impediance transformers like you use to change a mike from Lo z to Hi z so you can run through the low impediance ins and outs.
