Members EzzO)))
Hi, I'm looking to add a 4x12 cab to my existing set-up of a tremoverb head and an orange 2x12 cab in order to compete with my lead guitarist full stack and bassist ampeg fridge. I'm thinking about going mesa but I want to know if there is a significant difference between the traditional cab and the recto cab?
Members 80sShred4TheWin
traditional is a size and recto is a type so ?
Members phyrexia
traditional is a size and recto is a type so ? wrong Old "Standard" cab = New "Rectifier" cabOld "Traditional" cab = New "Stiletto" cab The recto cab is bigger and bassier, probably looser would be a good adjective as well. The stiletto cab is smaller and more focused, tighter.
Members Mesa4x12er2
Recto cab sounds very big but is looser. Traditional is definately tighter and punchier though. I love them both personally.
Members Mesa4x12er2
ok i lie a little. They are both punchy. Guy above me had it right. More "focused." If you play fast metal, I'd got with traditional. I play more of a heavy alternative type of music (deftones/breaking benjamin type stuff) so I prefer the Rectifier cabs. Members EzzO)))
Well since I already have an orange 2x12 with v30's which I find to be very tight and focused maybe the recto cab would be a nice compliment. I do like a big, thick sound.

Members petejt
I prefer the Stiletto 4x12 cab. Tight, punchy, chuggy, thick, crunchy, roaring.
Members Mesa4x12er2
The Recto cabs own the traditional in the chuggy, thick, and roaring categories though
Members EzzO)))
my friend has one of the older cabs with the metal grill, that thing really roars!
Members the_bleeding
the stilletto is VERY bassy and VERY thick. I have one and wonder why the hell anybody would want more bass because frankly, this thing has too much.
Members Mesa4x12er2
it's not necessarily about MORE bass as much as DIFFERENT bass. I had 3 recto cabs and 2 traditional cabs up until a couple days ago. They are both badass in their own right. Just different.
