It's the position of the stripes on the front panel. The newer ones have the stripe along the top. But there's 3 versions out there, so I don't really know. My friend who had been wanting one for a long time was as let down with it as I was. I really was very quiet and was very hard to hear turned up full even though it was amidst other GC noise. But the only clean tone it got still sounded far better to my ears than a variety of tones I tried on the Vyper 75 I tried out right next to it. Maybe the cable was bad or the pickup in the guitar was weak. Now I want to go back and try another one. Thanks for the reply. It had to have been defective.
