Members freakk guitarist Posted March 11, 2009 Members Share Posted March 11, 2009 just wondorin what everyone has in their quickrods nowadays? i havnt been around HCAF for a looong ass time. my quickrod originally had mullards, i swapped for kt77s and now its modded and has kt88s, i know i want to go back to 77s or 34s but im not sure, whats everyones favorite tube combos for the quickrod? im playing a tele so i want 3D warm tone, i dont have a problem cutting through the mix..just looking for something with a litle less shrill bite and more fatness if that makes sense Ian Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Members colejustesen Posted March 11, 2009 Members Share Posted March 11, 2009 Try the Ruby EL34BSTR tube, they have a better low end than most and the top end is sweet. I have heard on these forums that Tung-Sol EL34B tubes are pretty good too, though I have never tried them. I would think that KT77s would sound killer in those amps, since they have so much mid frequency. If you don't mind me asking, why are you going back to the EL34 tube from the KT88s?
