Members Soeru
Anyone here use that amp with a 1x12 for playing metal, with/without an OD for some extra saturation? Can it cut in a band with a 1x12 cab? I know it's more of a hard rock amp but I was wondering if it can get death metal-y sounds. I dig bands like psycroptic, spawn of possession etc that don't use a ton of gain, and I really like the sound of jcm900's which to my ears sound a lot like the Rebel 20 in some of the clips I've seen on youtube. Members JMR
you can always get a hi-gain pedal.
Members Soeru
you can always get a hi-gain pedal. In that case I might as well get a solid state amp no? I want to use the gain on the amp.

Members Soeru
Tried it before, thought it was just ok, but like I said I want to buy this amp in order to actually take advantage of its sound, not to put a pedal into it to take over 90% the sound. Using a pedal to overdrive or distort a tube amp is different. I play a 15 watt solidstate amp and my brother has an 150 watt marshall, we both have metal muffs. His sounds much more like a real hi-gain amp than mine because his amp has tubes. By your logic, there's no point in using any distortion/boost/overdrive on an amp because you might as well be using a solidstate amp.
Members applecakes1207
no, there is no way in hell that thing will do metal. The one I tried had very little gain, then again it was at GC and someone may have effed with it, but I really hated its sound tbh.
