a pre distortion bass control. Since no one seems to be able to build an amp without a lot of low frequency intermodulation (farting)(ok, Mesa Mark IV, and VHT are fine), this would let me determine how much low end slop I wanted in my sound. Not too farty, not too dry, just right.

Seriously, I reckon it's a great idea. It's at least worth a try.

How many strings does your guitar have?

 

This one has ten. It is meant to be played in a fashion similar to a Chapman Stick. I have played around with different tunings but for now I use uncrossed fourths. This means, if I sat the guitar on my leg, going down from the highest string, the top 5 strings would be (normal guitar) A D G C F (for melody notes) and then (bass guitar) low B, E, A, D, G (for bass notes). It is easier on my wrists this way.
