Members bee3
Was working on this last night... laid a simple Wurlitzer part and some vocals down. Here is the link: http://picosong.com/X2E/ When you're feeling downA little lowYou can count on meEven though I was wrongI've got what you need When you're down and outAnd you're all strung outYou can call on me'Cause maybe... yeah maybeMaybe I've got something that you need So take these wordsAnd put them on the page'Cause I just want to thank you When I'm feeling lowAnd down and outYou're there for meYou gave me somethingGave me something...Something that I need And so now I knowWell... I always knewWe were meant to be'Cause we've got somethingWe've got something that everybody needs So take these wordsAnd put them on the page'Cause I just want to thank you
Members Oswlek
The first two stanzas make me think less of love/gratitude and more of this theme: [video=youtube;MXI23DQk5dk]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXI23DQk5dk
Members Marshal
Nice. A tinge predictable. But I particularly like the phrase:"And so now I knowWell... I always knewWe were meant to be" That struck me as a fresh way to show a unique approach to the subject.
Moderators Lee Knight Posted April 15, 2011 Moderators Share Posted April 15, 2011 I love the way you broke up the rhyme scheme here... When you're feeling downA little lowYou can count on meEven though I was wrongI've got what you need

Members bee3
Just added the link to the original post... but here it is again in case your as lazy as I am: http://picosong.com/X2E/ Question: could this get away with being as simple as Wurlitzer and vocals in its final form? Does it need other instrumentation or does the starkness work?
Members rhino55
now, I cant help but read it as someone trying to get a fix. It works on other levels too though

It works on other levels too though All but the last verse pits me as a dealer! Well, that's the beauty of music... people can take from it what they want. That's how Robert Plant got by, right? Members Oswlek
It works as is, you toss in enough little changes and harmonies to hold my attention. That said, I can hear it with some bass, simple percussion (brushes, hihat and a kick) and an acoustic guitar strumming away and it sounds awesome in my head. Think this type of production, just not fully starting until the 2nd verse. [video=youtube;T6a_1R3w5i4] This probably isn't necessary, but the drums in your tune would be much slower. A simple brush snare on 4 and a kick at 1.

Members Oswlek
Yeah, its a good one. Checking it out inspired me to go through it and I think this one might actually be closer to this particular production.
