There's one episode where a guy brings in what he thinks is a 1960 LP Custom.

Pancake body, volute, witch hat knobs.

He got fucking owned.. turned out to be a mid '70s Norlin era. He was so bummed 'cause he was asking some ridiculous amount, like $25,000 or something. After its age was confirmed he was offered like $3000, dude looked like he was gonna cry hahahaha

saw that, looked like he was going to bust out & cry :thu::facepalm:

That show is all staged from top to bottom. The 'prices' that they pay are faked and, in many cases, they're not even actually buying the item (the Norlin LP is a prime example...turns out the guitar was actually owned by Cowtown guitars and the dude bringing it in is one of their employees). It's all just cleverly disguised advertising.

Plus, they've been busted numerous times when they do the whole 'Rick's Restoration' bits...one time they brought in a Coke machine and the 'restored' machine they got back wasn't even the same model.

You honestly think somebody is going to fall in off the street with a flag flown on the moon or a 1942 Sarolea? GTFO.
