Members franjo
dear effecteers & pedallers, dear builders, i own 3 germanium fuzzes with variations on the 3knob tonebender circuit. i can swap transistors in all of them. fooling around with one, i discovered that i had put in the oc-74 into the q1-position incorrectly. much to my surprise, i didn't get the big buzz i hoped for (of course), but while i had the fuzz full up, it got some germanium crunch with it. in addition to that, i suddenly got a wonderful CLEAN-UP with my volume poti!!! this works as well with oc-70, oc-75,oc-76, oc-82 and the usual oc-44. have i discovered the secret of fuzz clean-ups? it's so mysterious. i just wanted to share this with You. franjofuzzaddict

Members Sir H C
If you reversed it so that the collector was where the emitter should have been and visa versa, you get a very poor transistor and can use it as such. So you reduced the gain of the overall circuit thereby making it easier to go clean.

Members franjo
dear sir h c, my co-addicts in pedals at the fx-forum mentioned that i might have simply set the first tranny to zero, having a fuzzface-type of circuit then... franjo

As often as it's misused, there's no way to tell in advance exactly what you mean by it. I know one guy who puts one in every post.

Yep, and the input impedance goes, wait does it go up or down, I forget. But yes, you have a different circuit and so you get different results.
