Non-boosters: What amps are you using?

Laney GH50l, i play mostly modern rock and hardcore, tuned to C#.

 

I've never been into boosting, i dont think it sounds as open or as natural, i understand that some amps need boosting but for my style it just doesnt work.

RG100es does the 80's metal and 70's/80's/90's hard rock.. Also .. if you roll off the volume some.. Gives some OK blues tones

Pitbull Ultra Lead into a vader 4x12. USA Jackson King V with duncan invader tuned down to c#. Definitely no boost needed for death metal. Well i use one for leads but thats it.

JVM, JMP-1. Neither need a boost. I most like a smooth, rippling distortion, and for that, the JMP-1 pulls it better than the JVM, which is a more rugged, dirtier distortion. Both are fun for different times and uses.

I also have both and no boost needed!

I used to constantly boost, but now I just use it as a lead tone filter on my Fireball(cutting lows and adding mids, no gain). The 3120 doesn't need a boost at all, IMO.

 

I play mostly thrash & power metal with the 3120, and melodeath & death metal on the Fireball. Unless it's real late at night, then I'm using the Engl for everything.
