Members Murdoch
22 years for me...and I am nowhere NEAR as good as I should be. I peaked around 2001 when I was gigging and practicing probably 8-10 hours per day...haven't been playing nearly as much as I should.
Members wallywanker
30+ years, now i just play stuff that makes my ears and fingers happy - technically, probably on the down slide as per popular culture, soul satisfaction and personal fulfillment wise - definitely peaking and still headed up...i like where things are heading now ... Members Buster_Lee
Lessons for a year, when I was 12 (31 years ago) and then for the last year and a half. I starting taking lessons from a pro player/instructor, Tony Reyes, two months ago and must say the lessons are well worth the time and money spent. Members Mavesicles
How can some play for so long and still be bad? I guess the definition of "playing" is so vast, that once can pick up the guitar once a month and call that "playing."

Members Oops-A-Paisley
Bought my first guitar (a Grant Les Paul custom copy in wine red) September 1983Became dissalusioned in the 90's (94-2002ish), allways played though... just was doing other things career etc and was of the opinion that generally I sucked at guitar, at the time I was just un-happy, generally down and look back on it as a bad stage in my life.My playing today is as good as it was in 1988 if not better (hard to tell), at that time (80's) I played out a lot and my playing was very natural, it came easy..today it's different... more studied if you will; but I'm happy with my playing & can rock out with some mates and that's all that matters
