Members Johansolo
so i borrowed the $$$ Bruel & Kjaer 2250 Sound level meter i use for work (yes...ironically im an authorised noise officer) to use for the good of all evil and decided to do this demo... I stood outside the room to try and minimise the string noise being picked up by the very sensitive sound level meter and the mic. (whilst my poor helper monkey wife turned the settings in the same room...)[video=youtube;eU7OAjP5VQU] if you're planning on getting one of these with the intention of cranking your amps volume and then squashing it down to whisper/bedroom levels...be prepared to be SEVERELY dissapointed,(the fizz you hear is in part to the speakers not being able to move efficient amount of air.) but used sparingly (ie -4db to -8db) this can be a very useful tool to get your amp closer to that "Sweet" spot.also...believe it or not...in my 15+ years of guitar playing, this was the very first time ive played these AC/DC chords!!! (so its prob wrong in the transitions)
Members fretless
that first few db ( 8 db is a {censored}-ton ) , is a blessing though and it still sounded good to me , this side of a transistor radio...
Members Johansolo
yup i use mine on -4db and -8db depending on the occasion...if i NEED to play at volume the requires any higher setting of attenuation, i just turn the amp off and use headphones or a practice amp instead.
