Members thesinner66
We're talking about just doing an internet only release. I know how much more important it is to actually have merchandise into the hands of people. But I figure for $5 for 7 songs you're letting people spend the money at the bar. Plus with us being able to record stuff by ourselves and not cost us any studio time, there's little to no over head. Anyone have any luck in selling their music online through Band camp or getting music on Itunes?
Members misle
I've never sold using bandcamp, but I have bought that way. Last one was the Whores. EP I listened to yours earlier (thanks to the FB post). Nice stuff. Quite the departure from the MMS days. Didn't know Cully was drumming for you, can't beat that. Members this is paul
We use Bandcamp. The main advantage over iTunes is its super easy to get it setup. iTunes has more involved...but everyone knows how to use it. Well have our album on both in about 6 weeks
Members brianwahl
I use (and LOVE) BandCamp. I've given away a lot more than I've sold, but you can set it up so that you trade a download for an email address. You can do the same with NoiseTrade (http://www.noisetrade.com). Over the last year or so, I've built a mailing list of well over 3000 emails - all by giving away downloads for email addresses. In my opinion, exposure is worth more than a few album sales, at least in the beginning. At this point, I've got a nice fan base that I can directly communicate with. By the way - I'm using MailChimp (http://www.mailchimp.com) for mailing list management.
Members thesinner66
Do you guys just say "We have CD's for sale but you can also go to Itunes and look us up." when you have shows?

Yeah basically. We sell far more CDs than downloads though.

Members theAntihero
So get em while they're drunk eh!?!? LOL To a certain extent, plus in our case the cover is the painting thats in my avatar, people seem to want to have the cd more because of it. Members thesinner66
I know we'll have t-shirts made and have a self made 3 song ep to sell for a couple of bucks, it's just we're nowhere near having enough songs for a full album and selling it for 10 bucks. But we know that we want to get music out there for the sake of shows and what not. It's a chicken and egg kind of thing it seems.
Members thesinner66
Also, anyone start using download cards? I see that CD baby has them which seems pretty cool to sell at shows.http://members.cdbaby.com/music-download-cards.aspx
