Is this too vanilla sounding: http://soundcloud.com/tock-1/ive-seen-jcm I wanted to get a classic Exumer/Death Angel type of tone. It's supposed to be a little more mushy than uber tight. Whoreganic. The drums have an annoying ride cymbal going nuts (its a mistake..It is ghost notes from the drummer midi groove that I accidentally turned from 2 vol to 100) but you get the idea. Listening back, I think I over did the bass EQ on the bass. And on 40-50 seconds, it gets a bit too mushy guitar wise) My idea is to have a tone where you can make out the riffs, but it does not fatigue the {censored} out of your ears like modern uber guitar tone etc. The song needs a LOT of editing some pops and hanging notes etc. Usual lazy ass'd excuses. This is the style of tone I was going for: I think I got close..ish. I think I need to ditch the EMG81 and use my stock LP Studio which has a lot more sparkle/character than the EMG's.
