Members Music Calgary
Hi. I have bought this pedal, it has crackly pots: I have a soldering iron and solder but no meaningful soldering experience -- should I attempt to change these pots or is it something I should leave to someone experienced? Thanks.
Members tedmich
try deoxit (contact cleaner) spray in the pot (remove back of pot by bending tabs) and hose it down then work back and forth a ton while wet, let dry and put back on to see if it cleaned up. Otherwise replacing is pretty straight forward, take resistance value and "taper" (linear or audio/log) from a schematic and buy replacement pot from Mouser, matching pins/width and shaft dimensions. With no schematic match part # using google, or readings with DMM. desolder with small iron with fine tip, using "solder sucker" or solder wick, careful not to lift PCB copper trace, tutorials online or Youtube
