Members colejustesen
I ended up trading one of my guitars for a MIJ Contemporary Strat that played amazing and sounded pretty damn good too! The problem with it was that it was missing the proprietary locking nut... Being an idiot, I thought that I would just bottom mount a Floyd Rose nut That messed it up, and the nut didn't sit flush against the fretboard. So I decided to fill the holes that I drilled, and repaint the neck a glossy jet black. This is what the neck looked liked previously.... It looked nice, but I went and screwed it up Cole

Members colejustesen
So this is what it looks like now! I think that it looks super good!!! It took several days of letting coats dry, dry sanding between coats, tons of clears coats (with dry sanding between) and then wet sanded with 800, 1000, and 2000 grit paper. I then used a rubbing compound from 3M to buff out the medium scratches from the wet sanding, then polished it with some 3M polishing compound to bring it to a nice gloss. Then I finished it off with some Meguiar's auto wax, for some extra protection... What do you guys think? Cole

Members Nick H
Oh, here we go.Looks nice. Does it still play as good as it used too? Sometimes paint can make the neck feel kinda sticky.
Members colejustesen
Oh, here we go. Looks nice. They were a pain in the ass to tune up with Plus it made a great looking guitar, look cheesy (IMO - it looked worse in person)! Cole
Members EdgeOfDarkness
Let's see it on the body, looks good so far...but it might look better than the body. Then you'll probably want to do the body to match.

Then you'll probably want to do the body to match. I will probably put it on later, as I have another neck on it right now... So it currently looks like this... I would love to refinish the body, though I might just sand it down and have an auto body shop paint it for me... I really like Lake Placid Blue and White! I think that this guitar adorned with a white finish and black accents would look Cole

Sometimes paint can make the neck feel kinda sticky. The neck is slick! I ran my hand up and down it, and I didn't feel any tackiness. I am pretty surprised at how easy it was to do. Granted the finish isn't up to par with the professional painters, it still turned out way better than I expected it to! Cole

Members colejustesen
Nice job! Thanks! I bought this for $20 at Walmart, and is what I used to buff and polish the clear coat It comes with the 2 buffing pads that are to be used with a household drill, and two different compounds to use with the pads. It worked like a charm! Cole
Members guitarbilly74
did you only refinish the back?
Members colejustesen
did you only refinish the back? Yes sir... I guess I should say that I only refinished part of the neck. The fretboard could totally use some fret work, that I will leave to a professional though. Cole
Members guitarbilly74
so did you still keep the logo and stuff in front of the headstock? If so, good call. Also, don't refinish the body, this guitar is very unique. You don't want to change that into an ordinary super strat.
Members colejustesen
I left the Fender decal and stuff on the headstock. I am having a new pickguard made so that I can put traditional shaped humbuckers in it, not these weird shaped ones... The particular pickups in it don't sound bad, per se, but they don't sound as good as many that I have tried recently. Cole
Members colejustesen
So I decided to throw the refinished neck on the body and string it up... I much prefer the stock neck for playability compared to that of the Mighty Mite neck... The stock neck is flatter and wider... The Mighty Mite was a bit narrower and more rounded. Anyway, here is the neck on the body now... I the results!!! Cole

Members colejustesen
It looks great man. I'd consider this guitar finished. Thanks I am getting a new pickguard... Greasy Groove will be making a custom one for me, as this pickguard is very unique. I opted to leave everything the same, except to make the pickguard a 3-ply B/W/B and to be routed for traditional humbuckers... After installing that and a set of Tonerider Generator pickups, it will be done! Cole
