Going to Nashville on a short trip but heard about Rock City. Supposed to be some place you climb hills, obstacle courses yada yada.

Anyone been there? Is it worth a day?

Rock city is kind of a tourist trap but it's worth going to just to say you've "seen rock city". You probably won't want to spend a whole day there but it's close to Chattanooga which has a great aquarium and a nice river front park. That said, it isn't all that close to Nashville.

I live 10 min. from Rock City. There is really no climbing there, but there are some cool walk ways through all the rocks and cliff sides. Ruby Falls is near by and it has a cool obstacle course and some climbing areas. Nashville is about 2 hours or so away, so I think you would dig it here.

My wife and I will be there for about 4 days. We've seen Nashville, did the Studio B etc, and drank a ton, but this time she wants to do some outdoorsy {censored}. I was talking to friends about Rock City, but I bet they mean the other place since they mentioned climbing and obstacle courses.

We're going for her reunion but flying in 2 days prior. Just seeing what is around the area. Chattanooga was a fun town last time we went. Have friends near Gatlinburg that want to meet up with us. So we figured those places might be kind of cool. Looks like fun from what I see online. I think Ruby Falls would be more of our interest. Might do the package deal since they are both right there. Thanks.

It's a park so there's lots of grass and play areas including a carousel and fountains for kids to get wet. It's also by the river.

Casino, and I'm there. Fountains and a bunch of kids......... not my thing this go. I won't have my kids. Adult time!

Seriously, though. It's a nice park but it's a park. Did I forget to mention there would most likely be young adults playing frisbee and/or football? There's also some interesting outdoor art.

If you're looking for outdoorsy stuff in the Chatanooger area, drive a little further and do the whitewater rafting on the Ocoee river. I've done it several times and had a great time every time.

Sounds awesome! Link?

My wife knows I'll do crazy shit. I've skydived, scuba'd with sharks, jump off cliffs into lakes, bungie off a bridge, atv and other stuff. Of course that was 15 years ago

There are several places to go to for rafting trips, just do a google search for Ocoee river rafting. Its where they held the kayak events in the 1996 Olympics. I've done it 5 times and I only fell out of the boat once. It was in the roughest water on the trip and it was actually pretty frightening...but still fun. I got caught up in the white water and I didn't think I was ever going to resurface.
