Members Glenn F Posted November 2, 2007 Members Posted November 2, 2007 Hi there, Can anyone tell me if Martin's guarantee is valid in Europe? I looked at their website, and I only see 'register if bought at authorized dealer in Canada or US.' This might complicate my decision vis my replacement guitar. Word from European Martin owners would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, and thanks! Glenn
Members AndrewGG Posted November 3, 2007 Members Posted November 3, 2007 I think the warranty is only one year outside the US generally; it is only a year in the UK and its actually less valuable than our statutory consumer rights. It's pretty much up to the local distributor or importer as to the service you get.So much for the 'lifetime' warranty on an instrument we typically pay twice the dollar price for!
Members Glenn F Posted November 3, 2007 Author Members Posted November 3, 2007 Hi, Thanks for your reply. Taylor only gives a 2 year warranty outside North America. What's up with that? In any case, as I am buying through Thomann, I'll have a 3 year warranty. I'll just have to take very good care of the guitar. Cheers, Glenn
Members JasmineTea Posted November 3, 2007 Members Posted November 3, 2007 I think the over-seas warranty is year at best. One nice thing about living in the states.
Members Glenn F Posted November 5, 2007 Author Members Posted November 5, 2007 Welp.... Update: my replacement 000-15 is en route, should be here tomorrow. Cheers! Glenn
Members C70man Posted November 5, 2007 Members Posted November 5, 2007 I remember the late Steve Goodman telling me once (1974) when I asked him where the 000 Martin was....He said, "It doesnt travel well these days". I guess that holds as true today as any time.
Members triggerfish Posted December 30, 2007 Members Posted December 30, 2007 Does anyone know if Martin's Warranty covers the on-board electronics too? I'm having a ground loop problem with a Fishman pickup system...
Members Samilyn Posted December 30, 2007 Members Posted December 30, 2007 That's interesting info about the warranty. I love Martin gits, but I sure don't think it's fair that European owners don't get the same warranty as we do. As if gits on the other side of the pond don't break?
Members Glenn F Posted December 30, 2007 Author Members Posted December 30, 2007 It is certainly making me take a hard look at my choice for my next guitar, which I was hoping would be a D-35, or an OM-21. However, Thomann does a 30 return policy on their nickel, and I've met a Master Luthier who takes pride in his work, and whose fees are not out of line with his expertise. Don't know about the electronics. Cheers, Glenn

I found this at the bottom of a .pdf flyer on the Martin site: http://www.martinguitar.com/catalog/PDF/Aura.pdf The warranty for any model covered by the Martin
