Members Hudman
It appears that if you want to over dub and use separate mics, the H4 might be the better route. I'm thinking about the H2 as I just want something simple to record my acoustic. So far, the audio examples I've heard sound great + you can't beat the price. Here's a recent field recorder "shootout" conducted by a couple of friends of mine: http://acousticplayermagazine.com/community/index.php?showtopic=885 Thanks for the link. Members mole2
Here's another decent deal on the Zoom H4. Personally, I use the Fostex MR-8 MkII. I like having all the major controls on the top of it instead of having to scroll through screens. It also works off of AA batteries making it portable with it's built in mic and you can do two tracks at a time. It has mic/instrument inputs with both XLR or 1/4" phone plugs. (You can't use both at the same time on the same channel.) You have the ability to mix down to 24 tracks if need be. I have a 2 gig CF card for mine but there are models with a built in hard drive and cd burner. I just bring it up as an alternative. I think this deal at MusiciansFriend is the best deal on it right now: Fostex MR-8 MkII at MusiciansFriend
