The Axis pups are a good balance for what I play.

 

 

I don't know how true it is, but I read somewhere that on the Wolfgangs, the neck pickup is actually hotter than the bridge pickup and when you swap the two, it sounds a bit more like an Axis.

 

I've always heard that Dimarzio Tone Zone/Air Norton combo was about as close as any production pickup to the stock Axis humbuckers.

I keep hearing that the Axis pickups are similar to the Dimarzio Tone Zone... but my Dimarzio Tone Zone equipt Soloist doesn't some anything like my Axis. The Dimarzio Tone Zone has way more bottom and less chimy top end.

P.S. I just wanted to add that DiMazio even claims they're similar... I don't get it.

If that's the case, try a Norton in the bridge with the Air Norton Neck.
