Members ncook
Classic vs. standard. What s the difference besides the vintage green inlays and neck. Is it still the same quality as the standard? is the wood the same, pickups etc?

Members BillyCorgan
I owned a Standard. I hate that guitar. Bulky/boring tone etc etcThe Classics are much better imo. If i wasn't such a PRS addict i'd have one.The 60s neck is nice.

Members gnurph
Originally posted by omni The standard will retain more value. But who buys guitars as financial investments? I buys guitars as sonic investments, value based on playability, tone and looks are kinda important ('cos who wants an ugly guitar?). If it doesn't have value brand new (see above criteria), then how can it 'retain value'?

I have lost money far too many times..

The thing I really dislike in the Classics, are the stock PUs ---- I'm not particularly a fan of the Burstbucker Pros either, but I still prefer them to the combo offered in the Classics. Members docjeff
The LP Classic was Gibson's first attempt to get an everyday production line LP back to the specs of the original bursts. At the time (early 90's), the Standards had drifted way off. So Gibson gave the Classic a

Members No Soul
one thing nobody seems to have mentioned about the CURRENT production of the Lp Classic is that they are NOT weight relieved at all, and tend to be stupid heavy compared to most other LPs. If they are really obnoxious but you still play really well people end up liking it any way!
