Members Shabapnaps
Has anyone ever used a old Tascam 244 Portastudio (tape) as a Mic Pre-amp for digital recording? If so, what setttings did you have the toggles set at? I am trying to incorporate my old equipment into the digital age and was wondering if this is even a good idea? Moderators Lee Knight Posted February 9, 2006 Moderators Share Posted February 9, 2006 Do you remember a band from the 80's, early nineties called David and David (I think)? They had that song Welcome To The Boomtown. They used a 244 as a pre for some of their guitars. It shouldn't be a problem. I forget how those machines are set up, but however you can get it to pass audio out the back end... good luck. Sounds fun.
Members Shabapnaps
Lee, Thanks for the reply. I am going to try this over the weekend. If it doesn't work well, I guess I can buy the Tascam U22. My sound card is good, but it is also a few years old, so I might just jump over to using a USB Device. Peace! Moderators Lee Knight Posted February 10, 2006 Moderators Share Posted February 10, 2006 The 244 is really going to be an effect more the a quality, bread and butter pre. If the U22 is that new little Tascam interface... that does look nice.
