Members ScottIans Beard
Ok, just checked out my parts bin, didnt separate two pickups well enough and now they are magneticlly stuff together by the pole pieces. Are they screwed, or does this kind of thing not matter?

Members Shocker
No, due to the electromagnetic force, magnets which are attracted to one another- negative to positive, as it were, dissipate their charge when they come in contact. Therefore, the pickups are completely ruined. It's the same thing as when you stick a magnet on a metal pole (Ruins the pole) or stick your tongue on a frozen pole (ruins your tongue). Simple physics. //S

I put a magnet on a pole outside the house this morning and the pole DID NOT fall down!
Members Bruce Bennett
your pickups are OK. They will sound different than they did before they got stuck together. but they will work just fine. If your really worried . you can take the magnets out and have them regaussed. problem with that is.. you don't know what the gauss reading was BEFORE they got stuck together. Go over to the Pickup makers forum and read up on magnetizing pickups. You'll find tons of useful info there. and Shocker.. shame on you.

Soon you'll say Little Bush invented it along with 'intelligent design' - strange when a man who lacks a quality acredited a word with that same quality in it...
