Members u6crash
If I wanted to cut a standard strat neck pocket in a flat body blank, but at an angle to allow for a taller bridge, what is the best course of action? My best guess is that you would shim a template on top of the body blank until you reach the appropriate angle and them clamp it. Is there a better way? Members OrvilleGibson
That will work. The other approach is to angle the tenon/body end of the neck. I've had good luck with very strong two-sided carpet tape in holding templates, even on rounded tops. You shouldn't need to clamp anything. Just don't ram or press the sides of the template hard. Members u6crash
Well the problem is that there wouldn't be a tenon if there were a strat neck on it. Unless you mean to go ahead and shave the neck heel. I've had mixed results with the two sided tape. I don't know what I'd be using for shims yet, but I'm not sure how much surface area would touch the guitar.

Members larryguitar
You want the double-faced that that's on a fiberglass base-the other stuff (paper? based) won't hold up. The fiberglass may well hold better than you want! Larry
