Members mysterybat35
Hey, I was just messing around on my guitar today and I discovered this trick. I was doing a solo at the time using only distortion and reverb. I was picking with the very tip of my guitar pick and it made all of the notes go up an octave. It sounded like I was using a Proctavia pedal or something. Anyone else use the trick? MB35

Members axegrinder
congratulations...it's called pinch harmonics. It's not a parlor trick...it's a technique or tool, and you now have it at your disposal. Learn to use it tastefully and then master it playing clean like Knopfler

Members voneville
I always call them artificial harmonics. I use them on accident when I'm chocking up on the pick to much But I'm no shredder.

Members PaulS
I still think Billy Gibbons uses them very effectively. They have been a part of his style for some time, probably as early as the 1820's that Wilde came upon them.

Members loofery
I laughed at the original post and when he asked if coheed and cambria was the band of a member here, but refrained from posting until I went back to the forum and saw the smiley face icon next to this thread. The guy was so happy he'd discovered a new trick lol.
