Members Beergoblin
I was throwing in a new set of pickups, and I couldn't get my neck to sound right. After a bit of investigating, I realize that turning the knob no longer changes the volume at all.....?? It turns just fine how it normally would, but there's no change in volume. Anyone have any idea what the hells going on? Should I just switch out the pot? Any help is appreciated

Members walfordr
1) Check your wiring. It is most likely that you've made a mistake. 2) Disconnect the pot and check it with a meter. If it's no good then replace it. 3) Be careful not to overheat the pot when soldering to it.

You must now google a wiring diagram and do the whole goddamn thing over again. Sorry.
Members superpoo
1) Check your bowl. It is most likely that you've packed it too tightly.2) Unload the bowl and inspect the bud. If its no good then replace it.3) Be careful not to ignite all the green when blazing it.
Members Beergoblin
Nah, the wiring is correct. I checked it and redid it 4 times over and still the same result. Is it possible to fry out a pot, maybe by overheating it?

Members Beergoblin
I dont have a meter to check it, but I think I have an extra pot laying around somewhere, I guess I'll just try a swap. For future reference, is it possible to blow out a pot by overheating or some other means?

Members ArKay
If it'd be blown, shouldn't there be NO sound instead? Of course too much heat can kill anything.
Members Beergoblin
It would make sense that you could blow a pot by overheating, I just don't think that my original soldering job was bad enough to blow it, but who knows?

Love the acoustic solo on that track, ... magic That's Brian's original version then, there's also one by Queen. I do like both, indeed a great song which has been covered a lot over here in Europe.
