Members Prages
I used to feel that way. Then, sometime in my mid 20's I had a change of heart and now I love them.

Members bigconig
My guess would be they make them because some people have different taste than you do. I would imagine that if everyone hated them they would not buy them. If people weren't buying them no one would make them anymore. Surely you considered this. . . Members Milkman1
Although I don't currently own a Gold Top, if I was to buy a Les Paul, an old Gold Top would top the list. I love the way they take on a slightly greenish tint after a few years.

Members Wyatt
You know the ironic thing is that Gibson changed from Goldtop to Sunburst because people thought the Goldtop was to flashy and gawdy and didn't buy them (meaning that Les went 0 for 2 for his two contributions to the guitar's design -- the trapeze tailpiece and the Goldtop finish). At the time buyers felt that the Cherry Sunburst was consider a lot more subtle and more traditional, more "old fashioned.' I love Goldtops, I think their is somthing both rustic and classy about them. Here's my #1... Speaking of grandma's furniture, that couch is at least a decade older than me and the guitar (but propably as old as the amp), but my wife won't part with it.
