Members xStonr Posted July 30, 2006 Members Share Posted July 30, 2006 The first pickup change I did with my Strat was to put in a set of Lace Gold which I did on recommendation from a friend at work. Thefy sounded kinda thin and I was alway turning up the gain on my amp. The place I got them from allowed to swap them out so I tried a set of Reds thinking that since they are hotter than the Golds then they would do the job. I was wrong. They didn't quite do it for me. I had to rethink what I wanted my Strat to sound like. I wanted it to sound like a Strat. Went to Acme's site and listened to some clips of pickups and bought a set of CS Fat 50's. Now my guitar sounds like it should.I still have the Reds mounted in a pickguard which I'll just sell or hope to use in some project down the road.
