Back-story:

I bought this about a year ago intending to wire it up and use it. I finally got around to it today. I think I bought it for about $16 shipped, so with a bit of solder and a new jack it cost me all of $20 bucks. Thought you guys might want to hear it. :)

I did these in Logic, using only presets so there's not a lot of clean edits or anything... just an idea of the mic sound. 1st snippet is a bit of me singing "Hello Goodbye" by The Beatles and the second if "Make It Rain" by Tom Waits.

what's a vintage astatic mic?

I haven't been able to track down the exact model, but it appears to be either a harp mic or possibly even a public address/intercom mic, as at that time they use similar casings for both mics.

There are few, if any, true "harp" mics. Most of what we blowers like were actually made for other used, and only later "discovered" as good for harp.

Boy, that think looks small. Have trouble holding it while cupping the harp?

I only play in the Bob Dylan/Neil Young manner, so I haven't had an occasion to try it yet.
