Well, if you're into pulp, you can always go with marmalade, but raspberry, and blueberry are always good.

Back on topic though:

Try and find some studio jams and stuff like that. I downloaded (because it was an extremely rare vinyl) the Jimi Hendrix sotheby's outtakes. He's got some great jam tracks on that album.

If you like Weather Report, you'll probably like Tribal Tech. They had a buch of CDs and they are all inspired by WR around the Jaco period.

I think Scott Henderson has done some other stuff too. :)

Check this out: Josh Roseman. Go to Amazon and listen to some clips.

You need this:

JAM:
Phish - Live shows ('93-98) My fav. album is "Rift" BTW.

Grateful Dead - Focus on live shows 1970's stuff.

ALSO:(not jam but funky/groovy)

Frank Zappa - "Hot Rats" is a good one to start with.

James Brown - "Godfather of Soul Man"

Talking Heads - Very groovy stuff. Bassist knows exactly where to put it. She's bad!

That should be plenty to get you sharin' in the groove!

BTW: IMHO, Widespread Panic is a Jam band lacking the improv required to be called Jam. Also get a hold of some jazz like coltrane's "the love supreme", or some Theloneous Monk. Great stuff!
