Members indigo_dave
I know next to nothing about file audio file formats. So here goes. I'm recording myself on my Sony PCM D50 at 44.1 KHz/24 Bit. I think this is a wav formatted file, but not sure. I want, at this point, to put some songs in the cloud Dropbox service for friends and family to access. I was able to put a couple of songs there at the 44.1/24 format, but they're awfully large. So I tried a free downloaded conversion application. The first one only would convert to 64 bit. I was hoping for 256 bit. So I tried another one, but got a message saying that PCM was not a supported format. My very limited understanding is that PCM is some sort of raw file format. But is it also a wav file? Any good conversion programs to recommend ? Anything I should be aware of ? As always, thanks for any suggestions or advice. David
Members BushmasterM4
Open up your song with itunes and convert to mp3. Almost everyone has itunes or some type of mp3 player. All have conversion capabilities.
Members UstadKhanAli
I do my conversions with iTunes or Pro Tools 9. The former is probably easier for you if you simply have an already-existing file, while using a DAW is pretty great if you already have it open and and are working on files or mixes.
