Members hare.29
I have an interstate move coming up, and we're using a moving company. I'm tempted to move my guitars in my car (all in hard cases), rather than with the movers, but I don't know about my little 25W bass amp. What have other people done? Members ebene
When we moved I put all my gear in the back of the truck and carried it myself. I've had bad experiences with movers breaking my stuff in the past (headboards, collectibles, etc) Sometimes it isn't always their fault but what will make you mad is when you watch them drop something of yours out of their truck and not say a thing about it.Just to be on the safe side, move them yourself. But now I have more ammo when my wife asks- "But the guys on HC said so, too." Thanks!
Members rastaman blues
Also make sure the movers are insured and bonded. I tend to move "sentimental" stuff myself. Everything else goes with the movers.
Members Hudman
Pack your fragile stuff like you are shipping it via UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. You never know if the moving truck will be involved in a traffic accident.
Members studiojunkie
I'm amazed I'm the first to post that my stuff has been stolen on several occasions (from studios et al). I would never trust movers or anyone else with my equipment.
Members Bbreaker
I have my own fast frieght delivery service. Do not. I repeat do not trust any movers with your prized posessions at anytime. They should be insured or bonded BUT anything of value needs to have a rider policy or addendum to insure the proper value of any item or items. You will not receive any insurance money of true value without this. Save yourself a headache. Move your guitars; amps and any accessories yourself. You'll be glad you did.
