Members telelurker Posted January 16, 2007 Members Share Posted January 16, 2007 Cast iron frame = good. The more horsepower available the better, you won't be pushing the motor too hard. Spend a few dollars on spare blades. Starret is good brand available in the States, there may be others. Blades wear quickly, using a blunt blade is hard on the machine (and dangerous). If you get a selection you can match the blade width to the radii you are cutting. Fine Woodworking magazine published some excellent articles on machine setup and operation, if you need more info. Forget that 7" resaw capacity though. The motor isn't powerful enough to resaw more than about 4 or 5 inches of maple. You might be able to do 7" of very soft wood.
