Members meep
Hi I was wondering if you could boost a signal up to 6v, and use it to power an opamp that another signal is fed into, and therefore modulate it. I realise opamps do lots of funk things with slew and tend to muck up when playing with the power source etc, but this would make it sound unique etc. You could also do a funky tremolo etc. this way. Members Anderton
I think there are two problems. One, you can't null out the modulator. Two, the power supply doesn't respond linearly. I imagine it would do nothing up to a couple diode drop's worth of voltage, then modulate, then plateau out around the minimum recommended voltage. I still think the NE565 is the simplest way to do a ring modulator effect.
Members phaeton
How about if you fed the first signal to the base of a transistor that shunted the second signal to ground (or V+, depending on the polarity)?
