They don't make the Highway 1s with a maple board now which is too bad. I would get one if they did with a regular size headstock. But great guitars nevertheless. Congrats! I never see them with maple boards anymore. Only rosewood at my local shop. I prefer the maple too. I might go for a daphne blue with a maple board. Personally I love the finish of the Highway 1s, think nitro, very little gloss, unless you want to buff them out some. They wear faster too, which on my Tele leaves it looking just a bit relic'ed, which is fine by me, all natural too. Necks are great on the Highway 1 I have owned and played.P.S.
