Members glockdoc
I've got the 512?, whichever is red. It's got the single coil DeArmond 2000 pickups. They sound fantastic. They are very highly regarded over at Gretschpages. Their sound is very bright and clear. They are really beautiful sounding pickups clean. I use the Gretsch for clean playing only. I have an LP junior for overdrive. The Gretsch sounds bright, clear, and beefy thanks to the combination of those pickups, the acoustic sound of the guitar, and 11's. Throw in the Bigsby and I have no clue why the Ventures went with Mosrites. To me the Bigbsy is a big plus but it does require vigilance. Don't go overboard, tune up between songs, and you're okay. Members Rob Dobbs
I messed with many off the shelf G5120's and nearly had second thoughts but played one that had been set up and was sold. Its just an all out sweet guitar
Members datru
Not to hijack this thread, but I have a noob question: The Gretsch strap buttons are huge. Are these meant to unscrew to attach the strap? Thinking about a 5120 myself.

Members Backstepper
I have a 5125 (DeArmond singles) and love the heck out of it. Great player, good sound but all thats been said before here. I can add, this thing is very touch responsive, more so than my solidbodies. I can change from clean to mild dirt by touch alone.
