Members xmorgan socialx
My epi SG has a stamp on the back that says "Limited Edition Epiphone Custom Shop" Does that actually mean anything?

Members Critical Ninja
Some of the "Epiphone Custom Shop" guitars were made in Korea...if the serial number starts with a "S", "U", or "I", it most likely was built in Korea. Seems to me that all the MIC Epiphone serial numbers start with "EE". "Epiphone Custom Shop" basically just means..."Factory Limited Run".
Members jowe
Probably just a special machine that adds the stamp.
Members knucklechutz
pretty sure it means a higher price, too:wave:

Members RaVenCAD
It does in some cases. I have a 1999 Epiphone Les Paul Classic that is actually built differently than other Epiphones. It actually has the traditional Les Paul recipe used (mahogany back/thick maple top) instead of the usual alder/maple that Epiphones normally have. It was a limited edition that MF did. So yeah, sometimes it does mean something unusual.
Members solderjunkie
Some of the Epiphones are built right here in Nashville... less than five miles from my house. I'm sure they are much more expensive than the Asian mass-production guitars. Our Dodge dealership has the service contract for Gibson's custom shop vans... Every one smells so nice inside, usually covered in sawdust. I've found a few body-bucks and blanks in them, too.
