Members Shire
I had the junior Sean and it fell apart within a fortnight. I took it back and got something else. The SG is a cool option though
Members trill
Junior. Less work, and ultimately more unique.
Members muttz
I've voted the G-400 mainly because I'd love to see pictures of the process.

Gotta admit the SG is the one that has the potential to turn out the best, I don't know about the Junior neck joint....could it take a neck rout? Members Shire
fell apart? Well the screws that hold the tuners into the headstock ripped out and destroyed the thread in the wood. This happened on two tuning pegs Other than that I liked it because it was cheap and cheerful. I think I might have just got a dud one though

Members stormin1155
I like the SG as is so would vote for the Jr. It will be easier because it's flat, and I think will make a cool guitar with the mods you have in mind.
Members Richard Guy
I'd go with the LP Jr. SGs seem neck-heavy to me.

Members ihavenofish
every time you veneer a guitar top, god kills a kitten. especially if youre doing it to the "vintage" g400. if you must veneer to cover the old routing, do it "zappa style" and inlay it with a perfling border. your list is pretty good though. the only thing i would add is reshaping the bevels to be more like a real SG. Members Willyguitar
I think I would go for the SG. Not much to choose between them, so i suppose whichever one you think would have a better neck at the end?

I will do that, also partly to blend the veneer in, I'm using some rather delicious sapele, both front and back

Members axegrinder
I voted the SG. Those bevels will only be highlighted by the introduction of the veneer. For the effort you're putting in you may as well add a Bigsby, but I am sure you made your choice for a reason. looking forward to the results
