Members Strat87
You can't flip the nut as the cut will be wrong, a new nut will be required unless as Wyatt says you string it upside down Sure you can, I did.
Members tumbleweeed
Corian is rigid, it is the same stuff that countertops are made off. However, it is much less dense than bone and easier to work with (cut and file). It is a durable substitute for bone and very popular with techs. I stick with unbleached bone. My experience with brass nuts have all been negative, which I believe is why they fell out of fashion as fast as they came into fashion. I bought like a half pound of corian odds and ends on ebay for just a few bucks. Its VERY easy to shape and Im thinking the strings will wear into the slots over time very easily. I bought a brass nut after all this but spaced out and got a flat botton. I bought another one and shaped it to size but lost interest and confidence before filing the slots.....some day....some day. I do have a brass nut on an old Fender bullet rod neck and I really like it and pretend that I can notice the difference in sustain.
