Members Crisco
For my Firebird Studio I am trying to decide between the Tone Zone or X2N for the bridge, and I have pretty much decided on a PAF Pro for the neck.Anybody here have any use of these in their guitars? You Tube videos are helpful but only so much.Amp is the Solid StateMarshall MG HDFX
Members the_bleeding
tone zone doesnt really do well in mahogany guitars. The x2n goes really well in mahogany guitars. So i'll have to go with x2n. Plus, the x2n kicks ass.
Members rummy
I didn't like the Tone Zone in my mahogany guitar either. Go X2N.
Members Filter500
I also agree the Tone Zone isn't good in Mahogany. X2N!
Members GAS Man
I disagree. The Tone Zone sounds most excellent in my Fender Custom Telecaster Special. (Mahogany). Air Norton in the neck and TZ in the bridge. Stock It sounds very nice clean and is very phat when you pour on the brootalz. I haven't tried the X2N, but I gather it's more mid than the TZ with the ceramic tone. The TZ is an Alnico V IIRC.

Members Dead but Dreaming
I have an X2N and I'm on the fence about it. I have a really hard time getting some proper tones out of it in POD Farm, whereas I can get all sorts of different metal tones no problem with my EMG 81. I like the EMG because the tone is more compressed and under control, yet still very high-gain. The X2N is very mid-heavy and it has a tendancy to sound muddy and undefined. I did manage to get a good tone when I had a JCM2000/DSL401 and Boss Metal Zone, but I think that's the only time it sounded any good. An 81 or an 85 would be a good alternative...
