Members Freeman Keller
A few of you have seen this at the electric subforum (it seemed to have some things that made if fit there) but I thought I'd show off here too. A friend asked me if I could build him an acoustic guitar that looks like a Gibson ES-175. I said I would try. The ES-175 is one of Gibson's flagship archtop electrics - it has a couple of P-90 pickups and is designed to be played plugged in. It is a laminated pressed archtop (which I can't build) so I basically built a flat top guitar braced like an archtop with f-holes and the sharp (Florentine) cutaway of the 175. It looks like this inside (there is a complete build thread at the Electric forum) And here it is all done. The owner is one of the best custom motorcycle painters in the world - he did the cherry sunburst and requested a few special little features... Members katopp
Could you do one in antique tobacco sunburst or teaburst?I possibly could not afford it, anyway. But it looks the part and if it only plays and sonds half as cool as it looks... which I assume, oh dear. Members Idunno
That's a nice looking guitar. It's looks like it would be quiet so I have to ask - how do you feel about its sound?
