Members Shenaniganizer
Somewhere down the road, I'll start laying down some tracks for songs that need to come to fruition. I'd like a good 5-string bass that won't bust my wallet's balls. Doesn't matter who makes it, doesn't matter if it's from the ass end of China, I just want it to play nicely, sound good, and.. yeah, not bust my wallet's balls. Members satannica
Truthfully, spend some money. If you don't want to spend the money, use a softsynth. I have a 5-string LTD Surveyor bass. It's sexy and is leaps and bounds over the cheapy sub
Members LA-Ü-RA
Brubaker Brute series bass guitars play great and sound great. Our bassist has a vintage P-bass and a nice jazz bass and he loved the Brute that the hubby and I just bought. It sounds better than both of his basses too. I am not sure of 5 string prices but I think they are around $600 without a case. www.brubakerguitars.com

Members RSBro
How much $$? There's a very good market out right now for $500-700 basses.
Members Yarbicus
I am primarily a bass player and there are some pretty awesome inexpensive basses our there. I think the best bang for the buck is the Ibanez SR305.For $350 new, you can't beat it. If you are a guitar player looking to play some bass, it is the way to go. Members DeadNight Warrior
I'm obsessed with my Yamaha BB. Fantastic feel and tone for very little $$ String spacing on those is pretty huge though isn't it? I remember playing one back when I was first hunting for a bass and I recall it being pretty massive. At the moment I have a BTB405 and a de-fretted SR886.
