  • RP1000 for $260. Should I?

A guy has one locally for sale. I'm not much of a modeler guy, but I HAVE been wanting a milti-FX. Anyone who has one or tried one, how are the effects? Is it worth $260?

I've been gigging with one for about a year. It's no snax, but it does alright.

Thanks. Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to compare to the snax. I was just wondering if the effects are decent enough to justify 260 if I most likely won't be using the models much.

Expect it to be 299 new or 249 blowout price soon. I'd say its at the end of its store life cycle.

          offer 225 I got a GSP1101 and control 2 for under 300 used.

Well he was asking 300, so I doubt he'll go any lower. Plus, the prices for used gear here are REALLY high compared to other places. It's a pretty good deal for my local market IMO. Hell, people are still asking 300 for POD XT's around these parts

Keep trying CL if you can. Those things go cheap all the time. Local dealer took in a POD X3L on trade. Gave teh guy $75 for it. Sold it an hr later for $125. They don't like to let these things rot in stores.

260 CA $ I guess would be a good deal.

I own one & I would not recommend.

Look for a Vox tonelab. you can find them used for less than 250.00

My RP1000 sounds ok, but I personally think the Vox is a better tool.
(Personal footnote: I'm 56, and a lot of things don't work so great anymore. The wrist is one example. Another is my Johnson, which doesn't fire up like it used to. Sometimes it hardly works at all. A year ago it actually backfired. The guy at the outboard motor repair shop where I bring it says this is common with an old Johnson.)

I don't know if you can compare the vox to the digitech at all in any department, not to say that one is better than the other. I do like how the rp1000 can implement your amps single channel preamp and an external stompbox etc. Pretty different from a vox also soundwise. Man I'd be depressed if I had to track high gain with a tonelab although the last models (ST etc) were a bit better.
"is this tone obtainable using the HD500 or Axe Fx? Overall, for convenience and volume control, should I buy the Axe Fx over actual tube amps? I don't plan on playing loud; just playing at home and recording on my Mac. Thanks man, you are awesome!

                  short answer: no...

                  long answer: no way..."

I think I might just get it. I like the idea of the stomp box mode, and bypassing your amps preamp. I'm thinking I can probably get some decent cleans from the modeler. As we all know, the 5150's "cleans" are garbage.

Do it. I'm currently gigging with it and it sounds great. I'm using it into a tube power amp (60+60w EL34) into a 2x12 with Celestion V30, and it kills.

If you find a GSP though, it has updated models plus I.R. capability compared to the rp1000. Pretty rare those digitechs damn it.

I guess it's like most things...personal preference makes all the difference.

It's an ok price. I liked mine at first but after a bit the sound quality just bothered me. Being able to bypass the amp and cab sims is nice and its easy to create patches. Wish it sounded better
