Members doug osborne
You can use your name if you are sole proprietor (If you are not incorporated, L. L. P., etc.). IANAL

Members doug osborne
you can also file a fictitious business statement (DBA) in lieu of actual incorporation. These two have nothing to do with each other. Your local or state government might require registration or license, and that is what the DBA filing is for. Incorporation gives you a whole other set of rights and responsibilities, and if you incorporate, you still may need the license or registration that the DBA is part-of. Keep it simple.
