I just bought a Soundtech PMX10SD powered mixer (450w x 2 at 4ohms)

Im just trying to figure out what speakers to buy.

If its 450w at 4ohms, that means that its only 225w at 8 ohms, right??? and that means less volume,am I correct?

I was thinking about the Yamaha BR-15 speakers, but they are 250w continous at 8 ohms and 500w peak:freak:

I don't know what the Soundtech's 8 Ohm rating is, but my Yamaha 400 watt x 2 says it's 270watts at 8 Ohms.

The BRs are 250 watts "Program", which is the most you'll want to put to them.

Does the BR line represent your budget?

No. Not all speakers share the same efficiency. Look at the "SPL" (sound pressure level) figure.

If your goal is to make the most power (and btw, working your amp harder), use a 4 ohm speaker. However, "loudness" is based on many factors, watts being a small part of that equation.

I suggest going to your local store and comparing several different cabs without regard to specifications. Pick the ones that sound best TO YOU within your price range.
