But OP already mentioned the X Station in his first post.

good point. I recorrect my standing corrected.

Does an old SH-101 have any midi? hard to control VSTs without it I would think. My Oxygen49 doesn't need any batteries since it is powered via USB, features 8 sliders, 8 knobs, and one volume slider. I guess that is considered portable - but doesnt inlcude sounds IN IT.

101 does not have MIDI, only cv/gate and i think possibly trig out.

there are a lot of mods for it, afaik that's not one of them.

The SH-101 has trig in for the sequencer. Which is totally tits.
Too bad it doesn't have the most diverse sound in the world.

Get the original Novation BassStation keyboard. Much more diverse.
Or if you're feeling cute and limited ... a Yamaha CS-01.

Funny how the smaller you get .. the more analog it gets.
play Splelunker ... I dare you.

so this two poster guy will not be able to "tweak its and VST paramaters without a menu dive" like he wants with a 101.
i wonder if he will waste his time reading this since we don't have a solution?

vst parameters in a synth? what?

            oh and

            1. Versatility as you want it
            2. Portability/batteries
            3. 10 knobs

pick any 2 out of 3. I think "portability" is the limiting factor here.

I personally find it very strange that you disqualified the Gaia and the X Station in your original post, because I think those are the two best solutions for what you're looking for. I'd give both of them another look. They're both really great synths and controllers in my opinion!

                    X-Station!

Heckload of knobs and sliders and buttons that can be multiplied to 100+ with shift buttons, really good feeling keyboard with aftertouch, joystick and x-y-pad, which I love. I had Supernova 2, but I actually liked this better!
I am wanting, I am thinking
To arise and go forth singing,
Sing my songs and say my sayings,
                    Hymns ancestral harmonizing,
                    Lore of kindred lyricking.
                    In my mouth the words are melting;
                    Utterances overflowing
                    To my tongue are hurrying,
Even against my teeth they burst.

I left them out cause i already knew they matched my spec preferance. I'm getting a x station 25 for my portable. Thanks for the suggestions. take care.
