Members 1001gear
In before debunked. No place else to post. https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/243562-optical-shock-scientists-imaged-light-going-faster Nobody has picked up on it so they must be working on an explanation. Members Anderton
That is pretty amazing...hope it doesn't get debunked. Maybe this is how the Star Wars ships get into hyperspace.
Members nat whilk II
Gotta read it slowly and carefully. They are not saying they've tricked light into going faster than the speed of light. It's more like they've somehow slowed the propagated waves of light through the surrounding medium so the source of the light catches up and busts through the propagated waves. Makes this huge standing wave for a second, like a sonic boom, but with light. Or sumpin' 'long those lines.... nat

I was hoping for something like light can exceed C. It just can't be observed doing so.

Members philboking
Here's an article that gets into superluminal velocity a bit. It says the medium has negative group velocity, so the light exits before it has entered. This quantum stuff is pretty counterintuitive at times...https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/...t_can_exit_an/
