Members Bobanonymous
"I had a friend once, who took some acid, now he thinks he's a fire hydrant," TOOL, Gaping Lotus Experience No particular reason I like this so much. There are just so many lyrics I like, that my favorites are constantly changing, and I thought this was interesting and sarcastic enough to be noncommital

I also like how he isn't afraid to end 4 lines with the word 'time.' He didn't force himself to find something else that ryhmes.

Moderators BATCAT Posted June 26, 2002 Moderators Share Posted June 26, 2002 The Innocence Mission- Rooftop I hope you are on your rooftop now,in the sun, in the middle of five hundred flowers, and the warm wind blows your scarf straight out, flying like a flag.I hope you are on your rooftop now. It's very simple- almost childlike, but there's something I really love about these lyrics.

Members C.Ketola
Chrubs - Heroin Man It has great punchlines, like: "All I have is weight - All I need is rope" And there's just something abaout the song "Playdough" that makes me smile - but it's just not the lyrics...it's the way Kevin Whitely sings them combined with the music. It's one of the best albums of the 90's! Today is the day - Temple of the morning star I can allways relate to what Steve Austin writes...and he really is a great writer: "I live below the sea - don't beat me down trying" Pink Floyd - The dark side of the moon Roger Waters sure know how to make a man want to die/live: 'Time' and 'Breathe' are good examples... Members hardrocksinger
"I want to f*** you like an animal!my whole existence is flawedyouve got me closer to God" I like this Nine Inch Nails lyric - not sure if it is my favorite - because it points people to the conclusion that the religion they have chosen may have validated their actions, but it is not necessarily good or right that they have chosen it. It also expresses a phsychotic passion...
Members Murdoch
don't really like this band...and this song is catchy, but isn't all that great. however, this lyric, to me, is just awesome. Members Livid1973
Currently..... Muse's new album has a song called Apocalypse Please. It has a really cool line.... "It's time we saw a miracle...come on it's time for something biblical." I'm not particularly religious, but it says so much.
Members MtlHed
A lot of Metallica lyrics do it for me but here's some on the top of my head now: from Pantera's "Walk": Run your mouth when I'm not around It's easy to achieveYou cry to weak friends that sympathize. Can you hear the violins playing your song? Those same friends tell me your every word I like that cause the music behind it is awesome and it's just so damn true!! Also, I like the first line in Deicide's song "Deicide" off their CD Deicide: No lord shall stand before myself I love the intro to that song and that's how I feel about religion and "having faith"
Members PuppetMaster
Not very profound or anything, but I get a kick out of this one from Crosstown Traffic by Hendrix: "I'm not the only soul accused of hit and runTire tracks all across your back, I could see you've had your fun"

In general, Stuart Davis is the best songwriter I've ever heard, and I could have picked any number of his lyrics, but this is the one that's sticking with me now.
