"my baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo,

I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo

Big Bottom

Big Bottom

talk about mud flaps,

my girls got 'em

Big Bottom drive me out of my mind,

how could I leave this behind?"

Big Bottom, from the album Smell the Glove by Spinal Tap

Don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know

I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow

The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow

Black beauty I love you so

Jeff Buckley "Mojo Pin"*

*might be a cover, Jeff recorded a lot of covers.

"Ambition makes you look pretty ugly.

Kicking screaming Gucci little piggy."

-- Radiohead, "Paranoid Android"

Most of the lyrics on OK computer are pretty damn good.

what else... oh yeah.

"And I will love everyone... I will love the police as they kick the {censored} out of me in the street."

--Zappa/The Mothers "Who Needs the Peace Corp."

Always makes me laugh. Which is not something many people can say about Morrissey and The Smiths.

That album had lots of funny lines! Which reminds me of this:

You sold your old punk records,

Read the book instead

You lost your sense of humor

But you kept The Queen Is Dead

You don't look yourself, you dress like your mother

-Sleeper, "You Dress Like Your Mother"

First of all, I have hundreds of songs I could list right now, and this isn't necessarily number one, but it was the first one to pop into my head...

If Only Tonight We Could Sleep

The Cure

If only tonight we could sleep

In a bed made of flowers

If only tonight we could fall

In a deathless spell

If only tonight we could slide

Into deep black waters

And breathe

And breathe...

Then an angel would come

With burning eyes like stars

And bury us deep

In his velvet arms

And the rain would cry

As our faces slipped away

And the rain would cry

Don't let it end...

OK just one more...

Suggestion

Fugazi

Why can't I walk down a street free of suggestion?

Is my body my only trait in the eyes of man?

I've got some skin

You want to look in

There lays no reward in what you discover

You spent yourself watching me suffer

Suffer your words, suffer your eyes, suffer your hands

Suffer your interpretation of what it is to be a man

I've got some skin

You want to look in

She does nothing to deserve it

He only wants to observe it

We sit back like they taught us

We keep quiet like they taught us

He just wants to prove it

She does nothing to remove it

We don't want anyone to mind us

So we play roles that they assigned us

She does nothing to conceal it

He touches her 'cause he wants to feel it

We blame her for being there

But we are all guilty.

"The Dance" by Tony Arata

Looking back on the memory of

The dance we shared 'neath the stars above

For a moment all the world was right

How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know

The way it all would end, the way it all would go

Our lives are better left to chance

I could have missed the pain

But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you, I held everything

For a moment wasn't I the king

But if I'd only known how the king would fall

Hey who's to say, you know I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know

The way it all would end, the way it all would go

Our lives are better left to chance

I could have missed the pain

But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance

I could have missed the pain

But I'd of had to miss the dance

Traffic floats like a ballet

Far below in the distance

Just as sad as the words we'd say

It's all gone in an instant

"I Can't Steal You" - Matthew Ryan

There's so many great ones, that is my current favorite.

'Your media's a weapon of mass sedation

and its stored in every livingroom in the nation

we all buy in and we all buy now

put it on your credit card they own you anyhow

and your sons rebel from the seat of a mercedes benz

no one taught them why to vote

against the politicians

Cause you're an American Suburbanite

livin free singing

La dee dee la da da god bless me.'

-Nasty Dan & The Goods "American Suburbanite"

It hits home. And stuff...

Don't know if this is my favorite lyric of all time, but it's definitely up there...

And never know

The shallows and the unseen reefs

That are there from the start

From Jackson Browne's In the Shape of a Heart.

The imagery of the dangers of the ocean so close to shore,

where a sailing ship could find itself breached by what is unseen beneath,

as a metaphor for relationships that end for unapparent reasons.

Sullivan Street - Counting Crows

Take the way home that leads back to Sullivan Street

Cross the water and home through the town

Past the shadows that fall down wherever we meet

Pretty soon now I won't come around

I'm almost drowning in her sea

She's nearly fallen to her knees

Take the way home

Take the way home that leads back to Sullivan Street

Where all the bodies hang on the air

If she remembers, she hides it whenever we meet

Either way now, I don't really care

cause I'm gone from there

I'm almost drowning in her sea

She's nearly crawling on her knees

She's down on her knees

Take the way home that leads back to Sullivan Street

where I'm just another rider burned to the ground

Come tumbling down

I'm almost drowning in her sea

She's nearly crawling on her knees

It's almost everything I need

I'm down on my knees

I'm down on my knees

It's no secret that the stars are falling from the sky

The universe exploded 'cause of one man's lie

- The Fly - U2

This always trips me out because I wonder if he's talking about the devil betraying God, Judas betraying Jesus, or Adam lying to God. It's a cool lyric anyways.
