Members SaltyDogg
I have never really tried using any of these programs... Do people generally use their computers with certain programs to edit older hardware synths? If so, what programs? I have a wavestation and FS1r and the only editors I've ever tried to use crash on me. This is something I never really hear about... since its not a softsynth per se and its not just older gear. I am contemplating a MKS70, so if I get it, I will definitely attempt to let my computer guide it (if that can indeed be done:confused: )

I'm sure there are some differences, but I'll be darned if I could tell some of the presets apart between real and Reaktor ensemble. But I haven't A/B'd in person. The same goes for the Reaktor Juno 6 ensemble. That I have A/B'd in person, and I'd say that's between 60 and 80% accurate depending on the sound - biggest differences being in the chorus effect and filter. But it's very close indeed sometimes. So I'd think about going with those first before you venture down the path of buying 20 year old electronics with all that entails.. But, to answer your question, SoundQuest MidiQuest XL has a VST plugin to do what you want. Emagic Sounddiver was always the most popular choice. At least until Apple bought them and they ditched PC support
Gus Lozada
... and they may be crashing because newer computers simply do not run such old -more than 5 - 8 years old- programs.
Members stikygum
Hey, sign up for the Yahoo/Egroups Yamaha FS1R synth forum. There is an editor there that is freaking awesome. Just do a search there and you'll find it. It opens the FS1R wide open. Still you have to have an idea of FM synthesis, but it's the best editor. I give total props to the guy K. Take that made it, he did a Great Job.
Members Pilot
There's a couple of good editors around for Yamaha XG, XGEdit for one, but if you have a Yamaha XG keyboard (PSR etc.), XGworks is the best, and it might still be obtainable. I have updates for some PSRs which aren't specifically covered by XGworks, if anyone needs them. Bryan

I could never get it to work (crashes immediately)
